Mr. James Rogers, 81, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at a veteran's hospital in Tuskegee. He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force from 1946 to 1952.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maude Woods Rogers and Will Rogers; his sisters, Cornelia Rogers and Willie Mae Rogers; and one brother, George Rogers.
He is survived by two daughters, Jane Johnson of Evergreen and Sheryl Williams of Tuscaloosa; two sons, Kenneth (Joann) Rogers Sr. of Evergreen, and Charles (Jane) Fountain of Birmingham; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. at Presley-Fluker Funeral Home with the Rev. Freddie Stallworth officiating. Burial followed at Jordon Memorial Gardens in Evergreen.
