Mrs. Mattie Florence Jones, 80, died Sunday, Nov, 30, 2008, in a Fairhope hospital. She was a native of Suarnoochee, Miss., and had been a resdident of Evergreen for some years. She was a member of St. John Baptist Church and an employee of Max Kahn for 23 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Jones; her son, Frank Jones Sr.; a daughter-in-law, Amanda; and a granddaughter, Stephanie.
She is survived by her daughters, Olavine, Jonette and Florence (Edmond), all of Evergreen; two brothers, Roger Jones of Los Angeles, Calif., and Willie Earl Jones of Panama City, Fla.; one sister, Ola Mae Jones of Mobile; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Jones of Evergreen; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael R. Jackson officiating. Burial followed at Old Town Cemetery.
