Mr. Charles Grey West, 88, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, in a local hospital. He was a native of North Carolina and a resident of the Brewton area since 1964, coming from Milton, Fla. He was retired from the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II and the Korean conflict. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Fleet Reserve.
He is survived by a son, Derl Vann West of North Carolina; a step-son, Robert Hodges of East Brewton; two daughters, Sharon McDonald of North Carolina and Gay Anderson of Tybee, Ga.; a step-daughter, Natasha Hodges of Brewton; one sister, Lilly Mae Lee of Clinton, N.C.; and one granddaughter, Kelly Anderson of Savannah, Ga.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Craver's Funeral Home.
Graveside funeral services with full military honors will be held Monday, Dec. 22, at 11:45 a.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery with Elder Herman Bradley officiating and Craver's Funeral Home directing.
