JDCC hoops now 0-9 with recent loss

In their closest game of the year, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team remained winless when they lost to Southern Union 83-77.
With the loss, JDCC fell to 0-9 this season.
The Warhawks were set to take on Bevill State of Fayette on Saturday at 2 p.m. at home, but due to the flooding rains in the Brewton area last Wednesday, the game was postponed. A leak in the Warhawk gym caused severe damage to the wood courts.
Saturday's game was the final game of the 2008 season for the Warhawks. They will return to action in 2009 at home on Tuesday, Jan. 6 against Mississippi Gulf Coast at 6 p.m.
The game will be the first of six home games out of eight games in the month of January for JDCC.
In the game against Southern Union, Southern Union outscored JDCC by 17 in the first half, 50-33. In the second half, JDCC outscored Southern Union 44-33 but fell by six.
Deforest Taite led the Warhawks with 23 points in the loss. Tysean Thompson added 11 points for JDCC.
Taite also led JDCC with eight rebounds.
Fred Underwood led JDCC with five assists and Anthony Jones led with two blocks. Justin Burroughs led JDCC with five steals in the loss.
JDCC shot 44 percent from the field going 28-for-63 and was 9-for-21 from the free throw line for 43 percent.
