T.R. Miller Lady Tiger Nakiya Smith scored 17 points in three quarters, eight more points than W.S. Neal at the time and just seven points fewer than the Lady Eagles total as T.R. Miller defeated the Lady Eagles 50-24 Tuesday night at home.
With the win, the Lady Tigers improved to 13-2 while W.S. Neal fell to 9-7 overall.
The Lady Tigers used a 6-0 run to end the first quarter with a 13-5 lead and continued on their run and extended it to 18-0 to hold a 25-5 lead in the second quarter with just under five minutes left to play.
From there, the Lady Tigers used another run, a 6-0 run, and held W.S. Neal to just one point in the quarter to hold a 25-point, 31-6 lead at the half.
The Lady Tigers opened the third quarter on a 10-0 run to extend their run to 16-0 and their lead to 41-6 while outscoring the Lady Eagles 14-3 in the quarter.
In the fourth quarter, W.S. Neal outscored the Lady Tigers 15-5 to cut into the lead, but it was not enough as T.R. Miller won by 26 points, 50-24.
Along with Nakiya Smith's 17 points, 10 other Lady Tigers scored in the win with Leah Brundidge adding six points in the win for T.R. Miller.
Zykeya Barton, Janel McCorvey, Keydra Shedrone, Shaniqua Kiser, and Ashley Williams all had four points in the win.
Rachel Davis and Freda Folmar led W.S. Neal with eight points each and Keyvonnia Kyles chipped in four points in the loss for the Lady Eagles.
The win marked the sixth straight win for the Lady Tigers. The loss for the Lady Eagles was their third in their last four games and sixth in 10 games after starting the season 5-1.
W.S. Neal was set to be back in action at home on Friday in an area game with UMS-Wright. The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Jackson for another area game.
W.S. Neal will not be back in action at home until Friday, Jan. 30 when they take on Flomaton High School.
T.R. Miller lost to Bayside Friday night in an area game and will be back in action on Thursday when they play Cottage Hill at home in an area contest for both teams.
