Eagles fall to Jackson

All three W.S. Neal basketball teams traveled to Jackson Tuesday night and all three came back with a loss.
The W.S. Neal B team Eagles dropped to 10-5 with a 46-42 loss to the Aggies. The W.S. Neal Lady Eagles dropped their third straight game and fell to 9-9 overall and to 1-4 in area play while the W.S. Neal varsity Eagle team fell 70-54 and dropped to 12-9 overall and 1-4 in the area.
The Eagles were set to take on B.C. Rain in their final area game of the season on Friday in Mobile and will have two more road games to finish their road schedule this season before finishing the season at home with two home games.
The Eagles will travel to McKenzie on Monday and to Uriah on Tuesday to take on J.U. Blacksher.
The Eagles will be at home on Monday, Feb. 2 against Flomaton and on Thursday Feb. 5 against Frisco City.
Jackson 46,
W.S. Neal B team 42
After two thrilling late-second wins in a row, the W.S. Neal B team Eagles fell by four points to Jackson, 46-42.
Jackson outscored the Eagles 13-7 in the first quarter, but an 11-10 advantage in the second quarter for the Eagles cut the halftime lead to 23-18 Jackson.
W.S. Neal cut the lead by one-point in the third quarter as they held a 12-11 lead in the third quarter to cut the lead to 34-30.
In the fourth quarter of play, the Eagles and Aggies both totaled 12 points as they played to a tie and Jackson held on for the 46-42 win over the Eagles.
Colby McCorvey led the Eagles with 13 points in the loss and Ashton Elliott dropped in 11.
T.J. Davis added eight points and Tra Dixon chipped in seven points. Monterrius Culliver rounded out the Eagle scorers with three points in the loss.

W.S Neal Lady Eagles 44
Despite 22 points from Keyvonnia Kyles and 13 points from Freda Folmar, the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles dropped a 63-44 loss to Jackson in an area game and fell to 9-9 overall and to 1-4 in area play.
Jackson used a 17-11 first quarter lead and a 13-7 advantage in the second quarter to hold a 30-18 lead at the half.
In the second half, Jackson outscored the Eagles 17-14 in the third quarter and 16-12 in the fourth quarter to claim the 19-point win, 63-44.
Joining Kyles and Folmar scoring were Angelique Askew with five points and Tekshia Jones and Rachel Davis with two points each.
The loss was the third straight for the Lady Eagles and fifth out of six games in 2009 since starting area play.
Jackson Aggies 70,
W.S. Neal varsity 54
Leading 31-26 at the half, the Eagles were outscored 44-23 in the second half to drop to 12-9 and 1-4 in area play with a 16-point loss, 70-54.
Jackson outscored W.S. Neal 18-16 in the first quarter, but the Eagles responded in the second quarter with a 15-8 scoring advantage to claim the five-point lead.
In the second half, Jackson outscored the Eagles 20-12 in the third quarter and 24-11 in the final quarter of play to claim the win.
Chris Payne scored a game-high 24 points in the loss for the Eagles and was joined in double figures with Bob Elliott who finished with 14 points.
Kendrick Floyd added four points and Jeremy Nicholson and Sam Ewing scored three points each.
William Shell, Jeremy Alexander and Rashad Crook all had two points each in the loss for the Eagles.
The Eagles were set to take on B.C. Rain Friday in Mobile in an area game.
