WSN softball drops area game to UMS

The UMS-Wright Lady Bulldog softball team rolled into East Brewton Tuesday and used a 10-run first inning to defeat the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles 16-1.
The loss dropped the Lady Eagles of W.S. Neal to 0-10 overall for the 2009 season and to 0-2 in area play.
UMS-Wright, holding a 10-0 lead after one inning of play, scored three runs in the second inning and three runs in the third inning to hold a 16-0 lead through two and half innings.
In the bottom of the third inning, Renee Boatwright scored on a wild pitch for the lone W.S. Neal run as the Eagles lost 16-1 in three innings.
Anna Nelson had the lone RBI for the Lady Eagles of W.S. Neal and Boatwright and Jennie Crawford were both 1-for-2 for W.S. Neal to provide the only two hits in the game.
Jade Danley was the losing pitcher for W.S. Neal.
Danley went 2/3 of an inning and allowed 10 runs on four hits and walked six.
Crawford relieved Danley in the top of the first and two outs and went the remainder of the game.
Crawford went 2 2/3 inning allowing six runs on six hits, walking four and striking out one.
The pitching duo combined for 12 wild pitches and passed balls and the Lady Eagles committed only one error in the game.
