T.R. Miller baseball gets area win

Sam Sharpe had 12 strikeouts on the mound for the T.R. Miller Tigers and added a homerun to give the Tigers a 9-2 area win over Choctaw County Monday in Butler.
Corey Rilling was 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and a homerun to lead the Tigers at the plate in the win.
T.R. Miller improved to 5-9 overall and to 2-3 in area play.
The Tigers used one run in the second inning, five in the fourth inning and three in the fifth inning to grab an early 9-0 lead before allowing Choctaw County to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to claim the seven-run win.
Sharpe picked up the win on the mound for the Tigers of Brewton. Sharpe went the complete game seven innings and allowed two runs on four hits, struck out 12, walked three and hit two in the win.
Rilling led T.R. Miller at the plate and was followed by Wes Dickey. Dickey was 3-for-4 to aid in the win.
Trent Robinson was 2-for-3 with one RBI and Garrett Robinson was 2-for-3.
Sharpe was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a homerun and Conner Denton was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
John Mathieu was 1-for-4 at the plate in the win.
Leading 2-0 after three innings of play, the Tigers pounded out five hits in the top of the fourth inning, two of them homeruns, and scored five runs to grab a 6-0 lead.
Garrett Robinson led off the inning with a single and was followed by Trent Robinson with a single.
With one out, Denton grounded into a fielder’s choice to score a run.
After the Denton RBI, Rilling connected for a homerun to give the Tigers a 4-0 lead.
Dickey singled after the Rilling homerun and Sharpe then added the second homerun of the inning for the Tigers to give the Tigers a six-run lead.
The Tigers will host Flomaton on Thursday with the varsity beginning things at 4:30 p.m.
On Friday, the Tigers will take on area rival Bayside Academy at 5 p.m.
