Mr. Olen H. Padgett, 94, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, in a Century, Fla., nursing facility after an extended illness. He was a native of Conecuh County, and a long time resident of East Brewton. He was a member of First Baptist Church of East Brewton, a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II, a member of Norris Lodge 301, and a retired conservation technician with the U.S. government.
He is survived by a son, Paul (Kim) Padgett of Brewton; three daughters, Peggy (Hugh) Miller, Penny (Eddie) McKenzie, and Pat (Ronny) Herrington, all of Brewton; a brother, Cecil Padgett of Stockton; two sisters, Hazel Cone of Montgomery, and Maggie Lou Roundtree of LaGrange, Ga.; nine grandchildren, Brad Miller, Phillip Norsworthy, Mark Miller, Paul Padgett, Patrick Slay, David Padgett, Hillary Herrington, Melissa Padgett and Layne Herrington; and three great-grandchildren, Michael Norsworthy, Allie Norsworthy and Herrington Hobbs.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of East Brewton.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 26, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of East Brewton with the Rev. Larry Watts officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
