Mr. Henry James Tessier Sr., 77, died Monday, May 25, 2009 at his residence in Flomaton. He was a native of Watertown, N.Y. and had been a resident of the Flomaton community since 1978, coming from Fort Myers, Fla. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper earning the Parachute Badge and the Glider Badge. During his working years, he was a truck driver for J.Mar Trucking in Atmore. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Roselind Williamson and son, Henry James Tassier Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Edabell Tessier of Flomaton; his daughters, Eva Sherer of Lehigh Acres, Fla., Yvonne Tessier of Flomaton, Marie Miller of Andalusia and Phyllis Tessier of Nashville, Tenn.; his sisters, Cologne Harding of Key West, Fla., Janette Walters and Yvonne Tessier, both of Chester, Penn., and Theresa Wilson of Fort Myers, Fla.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 30, at 10 a.m. at St. Robert’s Catholic Church in Atmore, with Father Gordon Milsted officiating. Burial followed at Rock Cemetery with Flomaton Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were David Williamson, Michael Joe Williamson, Henry J. Tessier III, Matt Rayburn, Jesse Turk and Jean’ Chaloux.
