Mr. Donald Gene Baker, 60, died Thursday, June 11, 2009, at his residence. He was a native of Brewton and a resident of this area for most of his life. He served with the Green Berets in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and was of the Christian faith. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Terry Blair and Larry Baker.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Gail Baker of Brewton; his father, William Samuel Baker II of Brewton; his mother, Inetta Blair of Brewton; three daughters, Tammy (Kenny) Skidmore, Jennifer Baker, and Beverly (Tanner) Jackson, all of Brewton; two brothers, William Douglas (Joyce) Baker and Clifton Baker, both of Brewton; two sisters, Doris Sutton and Pam Thomas, both of Brewton; an uncle and special friend, Dale Blackburn; special friends, Frances Bradley, Tammy and Roland Bradley and Sonya Nelson; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 14, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with Brother Earl McCall and Brother Doug Greer officiating. Burial followed at Weaver Cemetery with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.
