Mrs. Julia Faye Brown, 77, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at her residence after a brief illness. She was a native of Munson, Fla., and a long-time resident of Escambia County, Fla. She was a retired spinner operator with Monsanto Corporation and was a member of the Solid Rock Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Brown and Bertha Brown Joiner; her sisters, Helen Braden and Dewey Faye Portwood; and a brother, A.O. Brown.
She is survived by two nieces, Debera (Bobby) Freeman of Brewton, and Jackie (Gary) O’Dell of Anniston; a nephew, William Nathan Portwood of Hanford, Calif.; and two sisters, Shirley Ann (John) Renda of Sarasota, Fla., and Linda (Perry) Brown of Brewton; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 3, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Drew Minchew and Speaker Debera Freeman officiating. Burial followed at Fort Crawford Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
