The City of East Brewton will begin holding its own municipal court in October.
Danny White will preside over the court, with Brandy Agerton serving as clerk.
Previously, municipal cases were handled in District Court by Judge Dave Jordan.
Agerton said the new arrangement allows East Brewton to have more control over the local cases.
Agerton said she is now attending orientation classes in Montgomery to be certified within the system. She will have to do this annually to keep everything up to date.
Chuck Johns will be the public defender, and Ben Brown will be the prosecutor.
Judicial Correction Services will collect the money that will be paid by defendants, City Clerk Karen Singleton said.
