JDCC volleyball gets first win Friday

In their first game of the 2009 volleyball season Friday night, the Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk volleyball team defeated Wallace State-Selma 3-1.
The win improved JDCC to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
JDCC won the first two games of the match by a score of 25-11 and 25-16 before falling in game three 26-24.
In game four, JDCC claimed a 25-18 win to take the match 3-1.
In the game Friday in Selma, Laney Barr led with 10 kills and Antwinique Harris led with 28 total attacks.
Barr also led with seven service aces and Sydney Boutwell led with 12 defensive digs.
Harris and Barr both had one solo block each.
JDCC had 39 total kills, 133 attacks, 26 service aces, 39 digs, and 14 blocks in the win.
JDCC will be back in action on Wednesday for their first home game of the season on Wednesday at 6 p.m. against Faulkner State.
JDCC will be back in action at home on Monday at 2 p.m. against Northwest Shoals.
Both games will be conference games for the Lady Warhawks.
JDCC will have another home game on Thursday, Sept. 10 against Faulkner University JV at 6 p.m. before taking to the road on Fridau and Saturday, Sept. 11 and 12 to play in the Pensacola Junior College Tournament in Milton.
Tournament game times were not known as of press time.
