After improving to 5-0 Friday night with a 31-20 home win over the Clarke County Bulldogs, the T.R. Miller Tigers will begin the second half of their season and region play this Friday night at home against the Calhoun Tigers.
While T.R. Miller is 5-0 after their latest win, Calhoun fell to 1-4 overall with a 54-32 loss to W.S. Neal.
Calhoun’s lone win is a 65-12 win over winless Central-Hayneville.
T.R. Miller Tiger head coach Jamie Riggs said he was glad to get a win against a pesky Clarke County football team Friday night.
Riggs said the Bulldog players played hard Friday night. He said beating the team meant something because their guys were hurt after the game.
As for Calhoun, the Tigers racked up 287 total yards of offense against W.S. Neal Friday night. Some 250 of those yards were found through the air with four touchdowns as a result.
Of the four, three were from quarterback No. 11, Devel Goldsmith, to receiver No. 12, Rodrecious Bibb, and three were for 45 yards or more.
Riggs said his team needs to put pressure on Goldsmith and contain him.
Along with the regularly scheduled game this week, the 1969 T.R. Miller Tiger state championship will be recognized for their 40-year anniversary.
Game time is set for a 7 p.m. kick-off in Brewton Friday night.
