In their first area game of the season Tuesday, the T.R. Miller Lady Tiger volleyball team split with Cottage Hill and No. 1 Bayside Academy.
The split made the Lady Tigers’ record 11-2 overall and 1-1 in area play.
T.R. Miller lost to Bayside 3-0 but defeated Cottage Hill 3-2.

T.R. Miller lost to Bayside 25-9 in game one, 25-10 in game two, and 25-14 in game three.

After falling to Bayside Academy, T.R. Miller defeated Cottage Hill 3-2.
T.R. Miller won game one 25-18 and game two 25-17 before losing games three and four by scores of 25-15 and 25-13.
In the fifth and deciding game, T.R. Miller won 15-13 to get the win.
Emily Waters led the Lady Tigers with six service points in game one and Janel McCorvey finished with five.
In game two, Taylor Guthrie led with six and Natalie Neal had five followed by Leah Brundidge’s four in game three.
In game four, Brundidge led with three and in game five, Brundidge, McCorvey, Guthrie, and Teralyn Moore all had three service points each.
White said that his team is probably going to see Cottage Hill again in a few weeks in the area tournament.
Some other combined stats from the two games included Janel McCorvey with 12 kills, four blocks, and six digs.
Taylor Guthrie had 11 kills, six blocks, and five digs and Natalie Neal had seven kills, three blocks, and eight digs.
Elizabeth Nelson had15 assists and one block.

T.R. Miller’s JV team ended their season Thursday night in Monroeville with a 5-4 record and the varsity team improved their record to 12-2 with their win.
The JV Lady Tigers defeated Monroe County 2-0 and the varsity Lady Tigers won 3-1.
T.R. Miller won 25-14 in game one of the JV action and 25-23 in game two.

T.R. Miller’s varsity Lady Tigers defeated Monroe County 25-13 in game one but lost 28-26 in game two.
In game three, the Lady Tigers won 25-10 and took game four and the overall match win with a 25-8 win.
In game one, Natalie Neal led with six service points and Janel McCorvey had five.
In game two, McCorvey led with nine points and in game three Neal led with nine straight points.
In game four, Neal led with 10 straight service points to make an 8-4 Lady Tiger lead turn into an 18-4 lead as T.R. Miller won by 17 to get the win.
