The T.R. Miller JV (Brewton Middle School) football team ended their spring training with a Red and White scrimmage Wednesday afternoon.
The game proved to be a defensive struggle with the final score of the Red defeating the White 12-8.
The scrimmage concluded six days of practice in which the sixth and seventh graders were taught basic fundamentals of the game. The team players were also given the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of their coaches, parents, and other relatives.
The day was highlighted when sixth grader Grant Youngblood fumbled a pitch, picked it up and ran the ball in to score from 60 yards out.
Other players of notable mention were Jones Manning, Corey Carter, McHenry Coleman, Todd Mayo, Kellyn Winn, Tray Walker and Kyle Davis. Each of the players had several impressive runs and catches.
McAnally said there were several other players who will make an impact the upcoming season.
Several sixth graders will contribute next year as well with Tripp Floyd, Jake Najor, Cole Blackmon, Ethan Tyree, and Jared Cooper all having a great spring game.
T.R. Miller will begin spring training Tuesday, Feb. 2 at the high school.
