Mr. Samuel Marvis Stallworth, 70, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010. He was a native of Brewton and a longtime resident of Gary. He received his high school education at Southern Normal School; his bachelor of science degree in business administration from Kentucky State University. He was member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Gary and was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Willie (Harris) Stallworth.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Chappelle); his four children, Charmin, Brittney and Gerald of Gary, Ind., and Jessica of Clarksville, Tenn.; two brothers, Charles Stallworth of Mobile, Donnie Ray Stallworth of Milton, Fla.; two sisters, Barbara Stallworth Moore of Panama City, Fla., and Connie Stallworth Purifoy of Mobile; special friends, Charlene “Peaches” Stewart, Quentin Burpo and Irene Lay; and other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 4, at 11 a.m. at Baptist Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. S.C. Tucker officiating. Burial followed at Baptist Hill Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
