TRM Tiger baseball takes down Flomaton

The T.R. Miller Tiger baseball team avenged their only loss of the season Tuesday against Flomaton at JDCC’s Warhawk field. The Tigers improved to 5-1 on the season with a 7-3 win over the Hurricanes.
The win over Flomaton for the Tigers evened the series between the two teams. The Tigers gave up their only loss of the season to the Hurricanes in the last game of the Escambia County Tournament on their home field.
The Tigers used the combination of four pitchers and some timely hitting to rally from a 3-0 deficit after the top of the first inning to post the 7-3 win.
Dickey, who has already signed with the Warhawks to play next spring, got an early start on the Warhawk field as he went 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and two RBIs.
Corey Rilling was 2-for-3 at the plate for the Tigers with four RBIs and Caleb McAnally added the other RBI with a 2-for-4 day and a ground rule double.
Ryan Hunt was 1-for-4 with a double in the win and Stephen Warren was 1-for-1.
The Tigers gave up three runs on three hits and one error in the top of the first as Flomaton built an early 3-0 lead on the Tigers.
That would be the last runs of the game for the Hurricanes. The combination of pitchers of Strength, Rilling, Rob Knowles, and Dickey produced a shutout the remainder of the game and allowed only more hit in the top of the second inning for a total of four Hurricane hits.
The quartet of pitching walked only two batters and combined for 12 strikeouts.
Strength went the first two innings and allowed four hits and struck out two. Rillings followed and went the next two innings striking out four and walking two.
Knowles went the fifth and sixth innings and struck out five. Dickey closed out the game with one strike out in the final innings.
Trailing 3-0 after the first inning, T.R. Miller scored three runs in the fourth inning to tie the game at 3-3.
Dickey led the inning off with a double and followed with McAnally’s ground rule double to cut the score to 3-1.
A Hurricane error allowed Kevin Davis to reach base and Rilling singled to score McAnally and Davis to tie the game at 3-3.
The Tigers would add two more runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-3 lead and added two more in the sixth to get the four-run win.
Rilling had the two RBIs in the fifth inning on a single to score Dickey who walked and McAnally who singled.
In the sixth inning, Dickey singled to score Cody Swain who walked and Hunt who doubled.
The Tigers of Brewton lost an are doubleheader to Bayside Academy Thursday night at home to fall to 5-3 overall and 0-1 in area play.
