Gulf Winds Federal Credit Union had a good reason last fall to cancel its grand opening celebration — Tropical Storm Ida was threatening in the gulf, and no one was sure what might happen.
Ida never bothered Brewton, but Gulf Winds finally celebrated its Brewton location with a member appreciation day Friday.
Rutledge also presented a check for $2,500 to United Fund president Sandy English.
Gulf Winds was organized in Florida in 1954 and is directed by a 13-member volunteer board of directors.
Rutledge said the local staff strives to fulfill the credit union’s vision statement, “Service that soars above.”
Gulf Winds has been open since last fall in front of the Walmart Supercenter in Brewton. The Brewton location is the 20th branch.
