In Brewton Babe Ruth action Monday night in Brewton, the Royals and Phillies came away winners to stay in a tie for second place with identical 3-3 records.
The Royals took down the Brewers 12-4 while the Phillies defeated Astros 11-5.
After Monday’s games, the Marlins were still on top of league teams with a 6-0 record followed by the Phillies and Royals at 3-3.
The Astros were in fourth with a 3-4 record and the Brewers were in fifth place with a 1-6 record after their first win Friday night over the Astros.
Royals 12, Brewers 4
The Royals used a six-run third inning to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 9-4 lead that propelled them to a 12-4 win over the Brewers.
Cam Easterling earned the win on the mound as he went four innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on five hits, walked two, struck out five and hit two.
At the plate for the Royals, Christian Purvis was 1-for-2 with an inside-the-park homerun and two RBIs.
Dylan Godwin was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and Easterling was 1-for-4. Chris Jones was 2-for-2.
For the Brewers, Wes Maddox took the loss as he went 2 2/3 inning allowing eight runs, five earned, on five hits, walked eight, struck out three and hit two.
At the plate, Sam Smith was 1-for-2 along with Maddox who had one RBI.
Quantae Barksdale was 1-for-1 and Chandler Brown was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.
Ryann Gray was 1-for-2 with one RBI in the loss.
Phillies 11, Astros 5
A four-run third inning and a six-run fifth inning helped the Phillies take an 11-5 win over the Astros.
Along with the two big innings, the Phillies plated one run in the second inning while the Astros scored one each in the first, second, third, fifth and sixth innings.
Rob Stokes earned the win in relief for the Phillies as he went two innings and allowed one run on no hits, walked one and struck out three.
Tyler Dehoff took the loss for the Astros going three innings and allowing five runs, four earned, on five hits, walked two and struck out two.
For the Phillies at the plate, Jacob Fillmore was 1-for-2 and Stokes was 2-for-3.
Zac Griffin was 1-for-3 with one RBI and Tyler Joyner had one RBI.
Caleb Stewart led the way as he missed the cycle by a double going 3-for-3 with a triple and an inside-the-park homerun and three RBIs.
William Whittle was 1-for-2 with one RBI and Todd Mayo was 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.
Zac Haveard was 1-for-1 with one RBI.
At the plate for the Astros, Brian Settle was 1-for-2 and Dehoff had an RBI along with Patrick Glass.
Nick Laster was 1-for-2 and Mike Williams was 1-for-3 with a double.
In games Friday night in Brewton, the Marlins improved to 6-0 with an 11-1 win over the Phillies to drop them to 2-3 overall while the Brewers picked up their first win with a 6-3 win over the Astros.
The win for the Brewers improved them to 1-5 while the Astros fell to 3-3.
Marlins 11, Phillies 1
The Marlins used a six-run second inning to take a 7-0 lead over the Phillies through the second inning to cruise to an 11-1 win.
The Marlins would add one run in the third inning and three more in the fourth inning while the Phillies lone run came in the fourth inning.
Cam Blackman earned the win on the mound for the Marlins as he went 4 2/3 innings and allowed one run on four hits, walked two and struck out 10.
Jacob Fillmore took the loss for the Phillies going three innings allowing eight runs on seven hits and struck out four.
For the Marlins at the plate, Blackman was 2-for-3 with two RBIs along with Jeremy Myers.
Hunter Mullins was 1-for-2 with a double and Dominique Jackson was 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Shawn Lucas was 1-for-3 with Miles Powell and Keaton Parker was 1-for-1.
Lowell Swain was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Jared Salter was 1-for-2.
For the Phillies, Fillmore was 2-for-2 with a double and Tyler Joyner was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Trey Salter was 1-for-2 at the plate in the loss.
Brewers 6, Astros 3
The Brewers ended their losing streak Friday night with a 6-3 win over the Astros for their first win of the season.
The Brewers scored one run in the first, fourth, sixth, and seventh innings and two in the second while the Astros scored two in the third inning and one in the sixth.
Darby Black took the loss on the mound for the Astros going three innings and allowing three runs on one hit, walked four and struck out five while hitting two batters.
For the Brewers, Wes Maddox earned the win going three innings and allowing two runs on two hits, walked one, struck out three and hit one batter.
For the Brewers at the plate, Ryan Hunt was 2-for-4 with one RBI and Ryann Gray had one RBI.
For the Astros, Brandon Carmichael was 1-for-4 and Brian Settle was 3-for-3 with a double.
Black had one RBI and Josh Maloy was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.
