A Brewton man was arrested May 25 by members of the Brewton Police Department and charged with burglaries in two cities.

Derek Tyrone Jones, 43, of Brewton was found to be responsible for burglaries in Brewton and East Brewton, according to police.

Officers with Brewton police responded to burglary calls at Brewton Fruits and Vegetables stand and Gleaton Cleaners according to a report from Lt. Eric Suarez. During the burglaries several items and a small amount of money were taken from the locations, Suarez said.

Further investigation, aided by patrol officers with the department, determined that Jones was responsible for both burglaries and an additional burglary in East Brewton.

Jones was held in lieu of bond at the Escambia County Detention Center as of press time.
