Good morning Brewton area sports fans. I hope all of you had a great weekend and that your week this week will be as great if not greater.

Today’s blog idea came from my preacher, Brother Doug Greer, during his sermons Sunday morning at our church Divine Temple in East Brewton. I tried putting this blog up yesterday morning and afternoon, but due to e-mail and internet problems at the office, it had to wait an extra day.

Concerning the blog, Brother Doug talked about in his sermon yesterday of how Jesus went into the depths of hell and defeated satan in his own backyard and home and how embarrassing it is to be defeated in your own home.

After hearing this, I thought I would look up how T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal football has done at home since 2000.

Since 2000, T.R. Miller has played 133 total games and W.S. Neal has played 107.

Of T.R. Miller’s 133 games, 71 have been at home, 60 on the road, and two have been at neutral fields at Legion Field for the Super 6 in 2000 and 2002.

Of W.S. Neal’s 107 games, 52 have been at home and 55 have been on the road.

Overall since 2000, T.R. Miller’s record is 109-24, which is ranked No. 9 out of 455 schools in the 2000s decade for most wins.

W.S. Neal is 55-52 overall, which is ranked 183 of 455 in wins.

As for home and away records, T.R. Miller is 5813 in 71 games, 49-11 on the road in 60 games and 2-0 in neutral games.

W.S. Neal is 26-26 in 52 games and 29-26 in 55 away games.

So, in the 10-year decade of the 2000s, T.R. Miller lost 13-of-71 home games while W.S. Neal lost 26-of-52. T.R. Miller’s most losses in the decade came against Pike County with two losses in 2003 and 2005 while the majority of W.S. Neal’s home losses were to T.R. Miller with four.

T.R. Miller’s winning percentage at home in the decade was .814 and .803 on the road while W.S. Neal’s was .500 at home and .527 on the road.

T.R. Miller’s record states a better record at home than on the road while WSN’s is just the opposite with a better away record. While this may be the case, I would have to agree that I would rather lose on the road than lose at home because, like Dorothy said, there is no place like home.
