Brewton Middle School is one game away from their second straight perfect season after defeating Monroe County Thursday night in Monroeville 46-0.

The win improved Brewton to 5-0.

Brewton got on the board first as they scored on a 1-yard run by McHenry Coleman. Kyle Davis added the extra point as Brewton led 8-0 with 5:43 remaining in the first quarter.

After the Brewton defense forced Monroe to three plays and out and a punt to Miller, Coleman scored on a 2-yard run. Davis added the extra point and Brewton led 16-0.

Starting off the second quarter, Brewton recovered a fumble and began their third drive at their own 49-yard line. Grant Youngblood had three carries for 32 yards and with 3:50 to go in the half, Jones Manning kept the ball around the end for Brewton’s third score, and the two points were added by Davis making the score 24-0.

Brewton got on the board again as seventh grade quarterback Chardiun Johnson connected on a pass to Markail Mitchell for 27 yards down to the 1-yard line and Coleman ran it for the score and Davis added the extra point making the score at halftime 32-0.

To start the third quarter, Brewton kicked off to Monroe and on their fourth play from scrimmage, Chris Jones leveled Monroe’s Quarterback causing a fumble that Coleman picked up and ran 60 yards for another Tiger touchdown. The extra point was no good making the score 38-0 with 3:38 to go in the third quarter.

On Monroe’s next possession Markail Mitchell intercepted a pass and Brewton started that drive on the 15-yard line after a penalty.

Grant Youngblood carried the ball five times for 75 yards and the touchdown with two-point conversion was added by Todd Mayo making the final score 46-0.

“We had another great defensive effort and made some plays on the offensive side of the ball to improve to 5-0 on the season,” BMS head coach Gerald McAnally said. “However we have W.S. Neal Thursday and we will need to play our best game on both sides of the ball next week. I ask that everyone come out and support your future T.R. Miller Tigers in their last game of the season. As always, it’s great to be a Miller Tiger.”

Trae Walker had 38 all-purpose yards in the first quarter and McHenry Coleman had 68 yards on seven carries. Kyle Davis had 18 yards receiving and two rushing.

In the second quarter, Grant Youngblood had five carries for 32 yards and Coleman had three carries for 34 yards. Jones Manning had one carry for 11 yards and Davis had two carries for four yards. Mitchell had 27 yards receiving. In the third quarter, Coleman had a 60-yard fumble return and in the fourth, Mayo had two carries for five yards and Youngblood had five carries for 75 yards.

Brewton had two rushers with over 100 yards rushing in Coleman and Youngblood.
