After a last second region win at home Friday night against No. 6 Washington County, the T.R. Miller Tigers will hit the road for the final time this 2010 season as they take on another key region foe, the Trinity Wildcats.

Trinity comes into Friday’s night game with a 6-1 overall record and a 4-1-region record. Trinity only loss came against Washington County in week three, 27-14.

T.R. Miller Tiger head coach Jamie Riggs said his team’s win over Washington County Friday night was a great game for everybody to watch.

“We would have liked to have done some things better in the second half,” Riggs said. “I really think that if I had done a better job with the play calling, we would had been in a little better shape because we got down there twice and didn’t get the ball in the end zone. You can’t do that in close games and that hurt us some. Defensively, we have to get off the field on third downs. That is what hurt us earlier in the year. We got them in several third downs and one fourth down and we just could not get them stopped. Sooner or later, we have to do a better job with that.”

Riggs said with all that being said, his team still found a way to win the game.

“I am pleased with that part of it,” Riggs said. “We always try and prepare as much as we can for the end of the game, on both sides of the ball. So, at least we had an idea of how to do that at the end. The key was Wil being able to scramble long enough, then their defense scatters a bit and Jaren gets free enough to catch it on the 4-yard line and he was then hit by two guys. His ability to stay on his feet and drag them and lunge into the end zone was one of the better plays that we have ever had around here.”

As for Trinity this week, Riggs said the Wildcats are a complete reverse of what his team saw Friday night.

“They are going to be a spread offense,” Riggs said. “They do run the ball some, but I would say that they run the ball infrequently. The quarterback will run the ball some, but that is just scrambling and draws.”

Riggs said as far as just lining up a running the ball, Trinity does not do that.

“They are great at screen passes,” Riggs said. “They are the greatest screen team in the state of Alabama and they run any and every kind of screen pass. That is what they do. They throw a few passes and they don’t care what kind of coverage you line up in, they are just that good at it. They can throw no matter what so they are a difficult team to defend because it is so reverse as to what we have seen lately so it will be a great challenge for us.”

As for the Wildcat defense, Riggs said Trinity is always good on that side of the ball.

“They are a little different than what we normally see as well,” Riggs said. “They have some big lineman and they always have some aggressive linebackers. They always have some great runners in the secondary and they are smart. They always have a great kicking game and a great kicker. Trinity just does not do anything to beat themselves. They don’t turn the ball over, they don’t make many mental errors. They will line up and make you beat them. They are going to do what they do and they are going to keep doing it no matter what it is. That’s what makes them good.”

Riggs said his team needs to have good preparation and go up Friday and play a great game.

“It is going to take as good as an effort as we have had the entire year,” Riggs said. “We have been on this month long deal where we knew Washington County was going to be good at home and we knew we were going to have three road games that were going to be tough. We have one more week here of this road trilogy.

“We will have to play a good game. I think we will prepare well and we will give a good effort. We need some folks behind us and help cheer us on to a win.”

Game time is set for 7 p.m. in Montgomery.
