BMS ends with win against Earnest Ward

The Brewton Middle School boys and girls basketball teams closed out their 2010 seasons Tuesday night on a winning note at Earnest Ward.
The Lady Tigers finished with a 9-1 record as they defeated Earnest Ward 17-8. The lone loss this year for the Lady Tigers was to Jay.
The Brewton Middle School boys team ended their season with a 34-33 win over Earnest Ward to end their season with an 8-2 record. The two losses for the Tigers came at the hands of Andalusia.
Gerald McAnally coached both Brewton Middle School teams.
BMS Lady Tigers 17, EW 8
The Brewton Middle School Lady Tigers finished off one of their best seasons in years Tuesday at Earnest Ward as they ended the season with a 17-8 win.
Brewton’s Lady Tigers led 6-2 after the first quarter and took an 11-6 lead at the half following a 5-4 advantage in the second quarter.
In the third, Brewton shutout Earnest Ward 2-0 to pad their lead to 13-6.
In the fourth, Brewton ended the game on a 4-2 run to get the win by nine points.
Emonae Curry led Brewton with nine points and Tempest Thompson added four points. Tianna Stallworth and Keona Banks both had two points for the Lady Tigers in the win.
BMS 34, Earnest Ward 33
Just like in their first meeting of the season in Brewton, the BMS boys and Earnest Ward played another close thriller Tuesday on the road.
After going down to the wire and Brewton leading 34-33, Earnest Ward missed a shot at the buzzer that would have given them the win as Brewton hung on for the win by one point, 34-33.
Brewton led 10-9 after one quarter of play and after a 10-6 advantage in the second quarter, led 20-15 at the half.
In the second half, Earnest Ward outscored Brewton 11-9 in the third quarter to cut the lead to 29-26 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Earnest Ward outscored Brewton 7-5 to cut into the lead by two points but it was not enough, as Brewton would earn the win by one.
Chardian Johnson led Brewton with 17 points and Chris Jones added four. Jones Manning had three points and Trae Walker, McHenry Coleman, and Trin Miller had two points each.
