In some Saturday basketball at T.R. Miller, all three Tiger teams defeated rival W.S. Neal. All three T.R. Miller teams defeated W.S. Neal teams by at least 20 points in their games as the B-team Tigers defeated W.S. Neal by 29 points, 55-26. In girls action, T.R. Miller won their game by 29 points, as they won 55-26 as well. In boys action, T.R. Miller defeated W.S. Neal by 20 points, 47-27.
With the wins, Tiger teams (B-team, girls, varsity) improved to 1-2, 4-2, and 1-2 while W.S. Neal dropped to 0-7, 1-7, and 3-8 overall.
Both teams will play in the Escambia County Tournament starting Friday in Brewton and will square off against each other game on Saturday.

TRM B-team 55, WSN 26
The number 13 was the luck number for the T.R. Miller B-team Saturday against W.S. Neal in a 55-26 win over the Eagles.
T.R. Miller scored 13 points in each of the first three quarters and in the fourth, outscored W.S. Neal by 13, 16-3, to get their first win of the season.
The Tigers outscored W.S. Neal 13-9 in the first quarter and 13-7 in the second to hold a 26-16 lead at the half.
In the second half, the Tigers held a 13-7 advantage to extend their lead to 39-23 heading into the fourth.
In the fourth quarter, T.R. Miller scored the first 16 points while holding W.S. Neal to three points to earn the big win.
The Tigers were led by Dominique Jackson and Aaron Yuhasz’s 16 points each. Caden Lodge had six points and Kieon Smith had five points along with Caleb Hubbard and Shawn Tolbert’s four. Abdiel Arauz and Tommy Daniels both had two points in the Tiger win.
For W.S. Neal, Bryson Peterson led with eight points and Trevor Burns had seven. Devin Stallworth chipped in six points and Zack Haveard added three. Justin Floyd had two points in the W.S. Neal loss.

TRM Lady Tigers 55, WSN Lady Eagles 26
While the electricity at T.R. Miller gym may have went off prior to the start of the girls game Saturday, the Lady Tigers stayed electric as they rolled their way to a 55-26 win over W.S. Neal.
T.R. Miller, who wore pink socks to help raise money for breast cancer, rolled to a 14-0 run in the first quarter and a 16-0 run in the second to get the win by 29.
T.R. Miller trailed 2-0 early in the first before their 14-0 run gave them a 14-2 lead with 3:28 left in the first quarter.
From there, they would lead 18-9 after one quarter of play and a 16-0 run in the second quarter propelled them to a 34-13 halftime lead after a 16-4 advantage in the quarter.
In the third, T.R. Miller outscored W.S. Neal 10-7 to take a 44-20 lead and then 11-6 in the fourth quarter.
“Well I think the Lady Tigers went out and played hard tonight,” T.R. Miller Lady Tiger head coach Ron Jackson said. “We made some little mistakes but we did a good job and we executed pretty good at times on offense tonight. We have got to ratch up our defense a little better than we did at times tonight. We are not playing at the speed we need to be at, but that is good that we are not there right now. It leads us some for improvement. We keep getting better each game.”
Sha Kiser led T.R. Miller with 22 points and Leah Brundidge followed with 19. Courtney Jones added six points and Brittany Rush added four. Diamond Middleton and LaTeysia Montgomery had two each.
“Sha is shooting the ball well right now. We have a few more that are shooting pretty good right now. We worked on that a lot in the summer during our camps and other stuff. That makes us appreciate those camps and all the people that sponsored those camps. That is telling on us now and showing off. That is a good thing.”
For W.S. Neal, Keyvonnia Kyles led with 12 points and Jasmine Crook had eight. Megan Andrews, Mariah Davis, and Daisha Flowers all had two points each in the loss.
“In a game like this when you are outmatched and you are intimidated and you finally come up with a well-organized, disciplined basketball team, the main thing you can do is hope that no one gets hurt and you find out about your younger players and give them a chance to play,” W.S. Neal Lady Eagle head coach John Saxon said. “You can then see if you can build something positive. I wont know that until I review the film, but we will start working for the county tournament and get ready for Atmore on Friday night.”

TRM varsity 47, WSN varsity 27
After going winless last season at 0-21 and only 5-17 the year before and starting the season 0-2 this season, the T.R. Miller boys basketball team got back on the winning track Saturday at home with a 47-27 win over W.S. Neal.
Also with the win, the Tigers defeated W.S. Neal for the first time since the 2007-2008 season.
“It was great to get a win tonight,” T.R. Miller varsity Tiger head coach Jackson said. “It is also great to beat our cross-creek rivals. Defensively tonight we changed gears and our plan tonight. We went a full-court man defense and that seemed to work pretty good. We have some decent speed and a bunch that can play. I think that we are in the marinating stage right now. After we get marinated a little bit and everyone understanding the game a little bit and understand it at the level they need to understand it at, then we will continue to have a decent team.”
Other than saying the loss to T.R. Miller was disappointing, W.S. Neal boys head coach Derek Roberts declined comment after the game.
In a low scoring first half for both teams, W.S. Neal led 6-3 after the first quarter. In the second, T.R. Miller held the Eagles to only four points while scoring 13 to take a 16-10 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, T.R. Miller outscored W.S. Neal 9-6 to increase their lead to 25-16.
In the fourth, T.R. Miller ended the game on a 22-11 run to win by 20.
Mark Bryant led T.R. Miller with 15 points and Kori Jackson added 10. Caleb Dickey chipped in seven points and Devonte Jones had six. Antonio Payne and Darrion Salter both had four points each and Kameron Winn had one point.
For the Eagles, Kenny Kiser had 10 points and Donovan Millican had six. Marc Jones and Dalton Evans had four points each and Jalen Harrod had three points.
