Warhawk basketball falls to CVCC

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team saw their record fall to 8-10 overall and to 5-4 in conference play Monday night as they lost to Chattahoochee Valley. The Warhawks lost by 13 points, 81-68.
JDCC and Chattahoochee Valley played a close first half as the Warhawks trailed by one point, 34-33, at the half.
In the second half, Chattahoochee outscored the Warhawks by 12 points, 47-35, to get the win.
Sherman Presswood led JDCC in scoring with 19 points and Turmonte Ragland and Gabriel Rice had 10 each.
Kahlee Tyler had nine points and Daryl Duncan had six along with Braylon Lazare.
Brandon Scott had four points and Larel Jackson and Adam Stumpf had two points each. Ragland led with six offensive rebounds and Tyler had four defensive with six total rebounds to lead the team along with Ragland.
Jackson led with five assists and Rice had two blocks. Ragland also led the team with five steals.
The Warhawks shot 40.9 percent from the field (27-for-66) while CVCC was 32-for-62 for 51.6 percent. JDCC was 13-for-14 from the line in the loss while CVCC was 9-for-12.
JDCC will be back in action Thursday, Feb. 3 at home against Southern Union. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in Brewton.
