WSN Lady Eagle basketball ends season Thursday with area tourney loss

The W.S. Neal Lady Eagle basketball team saw their season come to an end Thursday night in Jackson as they lost to Thomasville 40-22 in the 4A area 2 tournament.
With the loss the Lady Eagles ended their season 5-19.
Thomasville grabbed a 9-4 lead after the first quarter and extended their lead to 17-10 at the half following an 8-6 advantage in the second quarter.
In the third, W.S. Neal was outscored 12-7 as Thomasville increased their lead by five points to lead 29-17 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Thomasville ended the game on an 11-5 run to get the win by 18 points and end the season for the Lady Eagles.
“We played great defensively forcing 37 turnovers, but we could not hit a basket all night,” W.S. Neal Lady Eagle head coach John Saxon said. “I think we had a great season. We placed third in the area with a lot of great teams. I am very proud of the way the girls have improved over the course of the season.”
W.S. Neal was 4-for-13 from the free throw line in the loss.
Keyvonnia Kyles led the Lady Eagles with 15 points and Jasmine Crook chipped in three points. Angelique Askew added two points and Tiana Smith and Ariana Jones had one point each in the loss.
