A large number of residents along Brewton’s west side were without power for a brief time Friday afternoon due to a one-vehicle accident on U.S. 31 South.
Allie Taylor, the driver of a pickup truck, received minor injuries in the accident that left a broken power pole and power lines across the road once the dust had settled. She said the crash occurred as she worked to fasten her seatbelt.
She received abrasions to her left arm, which was treated on the scene by paramedics. Frank Taylor, the driver’s grandfather, was also in the vehicle when the crash occurred. He was not injured in the crash.
Alabama Power workers said much of the power had been restored in the area within a half hour of the accident. Work crews were on the scene within an hour of the accident to begin replacement of the broken pole. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Brewton Police are continuing to investigate to determine the cause of the crash.
