Brewton Babe Ruth 15s fall 3-0 to Monroe

The Brewton Babe Ruth 15-year-olds, in their first game of their district tournament Thursday in Monroeville, lost to the host team Monroe 3-0.
Monroe scored two runs in the first inning against Brewton and added a run in the fourth to get the win.
Brewton stranded six runners on base in the loss with two being left on second and two on third.
Monroe had nine hits in the game and left 13 runners on base while making two errors while Brewton had only five hits in the game and also made two errors.
In other Brewton Babe Ruth action Thursday in Atmore, the 13s defeated Monroe County 19-9 while the 14s defeated Atmore 14-6.
Both of those games were played in Atmore and are a two-team tournament with a best two-of-three format.
Brewton was set to play Evergreen in the losers bracket game Friday at 7 p.m. in Monroeville.
In the game Thursday, Darby Black took the loss on the mound for Brewton. Black went six innings and allowed nine hits, three earned runs, walked five, hit one and struck out nine.
At the plate for Brewton, Dominique Jackson was 2-for-3 with a double and Black was 2-for-3.
Dalton Smith was 1-for-3 with a double.
Ryann Gray and Cody Carter both reached on an error for Brewton. Monroe struck out nine Brewton batters.
After getting one out in the bottom of the first, Monroe got four singles, a Brewton error and a hit batter to plate the two runs early to take a 2-0 lead.
The run in the fourth came on an error, a single and two walks. Brewton ended the fourth and sixth innings with the bases loaded for Monroe.
No stats or other information was known as of press time for the other Brewton Babe Ruth teams.
