Like Monday's game at Faulkner State, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawks still only had eight players available for Thursday's game at Shelton.
Unlike Monday's 93-54 loss, the Warhawks were able to get the tempo of Thursday's game more to their liking. Although the final result was still not what JDCC wanted, the 77-62 loss was easier to swallow.
"We played a lot better. We wanted a game in the low 60s and we had them on pace for that in the first half. In the second half, they had one good run that enabled them to pull away," JDCC coach Allen Gainer said.
Shelton had just a 12-9 lead halfway through the first half and extended it to 30-19 by the midway point. The pace of the game picked up in the first 10 minutes of the second half, as Shelton ran its lead to 57-41.
JDCC (2-7 in the Alabama Community College Conference and 7-15 overall) had four players in double figures, as Brandon Montgomery led that list with 17 points. Jeff Foster added 16, while Randall Burno had 14 and Kenny Thompson netted 10.
JDCC hosts Marion Monday.
