John Moragne Fleming

Mr. John Moragne Fleming, Jr., 80 of Evergreen, died Thursday, August 18, 2011 in a Mobile hospital.
He was a native of Brewton, and had been a long-time resident of Evergreen. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served as chairman of the Conecuh County Commission; a writer for outdoor sporting magazines and five technical books on engines, and raced boats in 19 world championships. He was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Moragne Fleming, Sr. and Clare Foshee Fleming.
He is survived by his wife, Lameda Griffin Fleming of Evergreen; two daughters, Cynthia Freas of Evergreen and Karen Griffin Fleming of Marietta, Ga.; one brother, Mason Fleming of Brewton; three grandchildren, Fred Dinkler, III, Allison G. Dinkler, Alexander Moragne Freas; one great-grandchild, Tyler Bailey; nephews, Mack Fleming of Brewton and Mason Fleming, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; and other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, August 21, at 3 p.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Williamson officiating. Burial followed at Fort Crawford Cemetery in East Brewton, with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Evergreen Library or the Brewton Library.
