The more somebody does something, the better they should become.
The same principle applies to this year's T.R. Miller Tigers golf team. With a roster full of youth and quite a bit of inexperience, the Tigers' current performance should become a lot better by the end of the season.
"Our players have been working hard and they've gotten off to a good start. Hopefully we'll keep improving," T.R. Miller coach Greg Ennis said.
The six-player roster contains no seniors and just two juniors. The other four players are sophomores. With just six players, that means there is no competition for lineup spots although there is competition within the lineup.
"We're young, but that's not something that cocnerns me. Golf is more of a mental game. It's how well you handle that part that determines how you perform rather than how old you are," Ennis said.
While any spot in the lineup could change from day to day, sophomore Tripp Owens should be pretty secure in the number one spot. Owens was a state qualifier last year.
"It's going to be real hard for any of the other players to knock Tripp out of that spot," Ennis said. "A big key for

Tripp is he is very consistent. He has played pretty much all his life and he plays throughout the year. I think he has a good chance of getting back to state," Ennis said.
Juniors David Stokes and Matt Fraser are T.R. Miller's other most experienced players.
"David is like a bulldog on the course. He is tough at everything he does. I look for him to probably be our number two or three player," Ennis said. "Matt has become a lot more consistent with his game."
The other three T.R. Miller players, sophomores James Dixon, Brooks Fussell and Clay Parker, are all first-year players.
"James has one of the prettier swings I've seen. Brooks is a very aggresisve player. Clay is still working on his swing and course management. Once he gets those things down, he should be just fine," Ennis said.
