State USDA Rural Development Director Steve Pelham was on hand Wednesday to present the money to the town. Mayor Carl Smith and Town Clerk Jeanette Moore represented the town in accepting the check.
County," Pelham said. "The Town of Riverview is an excellent stewart of our program funds to help improve and expand services to local citizens and prepare the community to meet the demands of future growth."
The $407,000 low-interest loan and $1,020,000 grant from USDA Rural Development will be used to extend water service to 59 additional customers.
Smith said bids for the project will go out in January, and construction can begin once a bid is accepted.
