Michele Gerlach has been named president and publisher of Brewton Newspapers, Inc. and vice president and group manager of Boone Newspapers, Inc., The Standard's Tuscaloosa-based parent company.
Gerlach currently serves as director of marketing and communications at Jefferson Davis Community College. Previously, she was president and publisher of Atmore Newspapers, Inc., and worked in newspapers in Alexander City and Russellville, Ala.
A native of Elba, Gerlach earned a journalism degree from the University of Alabama and will complete a master's degree in leadership and organizational effectiveness from Troy State University later this month. She chairs the City of Atmore's Industrial Development Board, is a member of the Atmore Rotary Club and Trinity Episcopal Church. Her husband, Tom, is the owner of Gerlach's Restaurant.
She will begin work at The Standard on July 26.
