Alan Robinson, who works and lives at the Brewton Airport, was awakened early Thursday morning by a surprise visitor.
At about 2:30 a.m., Robinson -- who works as the airport's fixed base operator, maintaining the grounds and security -- awakened to the landing of a Lear jet occupied by former heavyweight boxing champion Roy Jones Jr.
Jones was attempting to return to his home near Pensacola, Fla., but after several failed attempts to land in Pensacola, the pilot of the jet returned to Brewton for a landing. Heavy fog that blanketed the area that night prevented a landing in Pensacola.
Robinson allowed Jones, his companion and the flight crew to borrow his car to drive to Pensacola after they landed. The flight crew members returned his car and rested at the airport before flying back to Memphis, Tenn., later that morning.
