JDCC basketball falls to 0-3

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team remained winless Saturday as they lost on the road to Southern Union 69-53. The loss drops JDCC to 0-3 this season.
JDCC was outscored by 14 points in the first half, 37-23, and was edged out by two points in the second half, 32-30, to lose by 16 points.
In the loss for the Warhawks, Turmonte Ragland led with 19 points and D.J. Jackson had nine points. Larel Jackson added eight points in the loss and Gabriel Rice had seven. Adam Stumpf chipped in six points while R.J. Bowers and Sherman Presswood had two each.
D.J. Jackson had two offensive rebounds in the loss along with Rice, Presswood and Stumpf while Larel Jackson led with five defensive rebounds. Larel Jackson and Ragland finished with five total rebounds to lead in the loss. Jackson also added five assists in the loss and had six steals.
JDCC shot 30 percent from the free throw line (16-for-54) and was 0-for-11 from 3-point range. The Warhawks were 21-for-31 from the free throw stripe for 68 percent.
JDCC is scheduled to play at home tomorrow night against Pensacola State College at 7 p.m.
