The City of Brewton and industries in the Hwy. 31 Industrial Park got good news this week when Speaker of the Alabama House of Representatives Seth Hammett announced a $383,000 industrial access grant.
The funding comes from the Alabama Industrial Access Road and Bridge Authority. Joining Hammett in the announcement was Sstate Sen. Jimmy Holley.
Brewton Mayor Ted Jennings said the city will use the grant, which it had worked toward for several years, to pave the access road to the city's industrial park, pave roadside ditches and add a turn lane on U.S. Hwy. 31. Business owners in the industrial park wrote letters of support detailing how road improvements would allow them to continue and expand their businesses.
Jennings and other city leadershave worked hard preparing for and lobbying to secure this grant. We salute them for this effort and look forward to seeing the results of this grant.
