It will actually go down as a come-from behind win.
After all, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers did have to overcome a 3-2 deficit in Friday's game at Monroe County.
The three-pointer Kim Davis hit that gave the host Lady Tigers that lead was just about Monroe County's only hurrah, as T.R. Miller steamrolled its way to a 64-14 victory and remained unbeaten on the season.
T.R. Miller's huge margin of victory was built largely through a 32-0 run it compiled over a 14-minute stretch that began at the start of the second quarter and did not end until the two-minute mark of the third period.
Actually both of those figures could have been much worse. Davis hit an off balance three-pointer at the first quarter puzzer. Othwerwise T.R. Miller's run would have been 50-0 over 20 minutes.
"Our defense really did a great job. We played defense like we are capable of doing," T.R. Miller coach Ron Jackson said.
While it may seem hard to believe there could be a down side in a 50-point margin of victory where his team allowed a mere 14 points, Jackson found one.
"Our bench people saw quite a few minutes in this game and they only scored two points. Shae Walker hit a couple of free throws. That was it. There will come an important point at some time in the season where we need our bench to produce," Jackson said.
T.R. Miller's press forced Monroe County (3-5) into 10 first quarter turovers to set the tone for the game. Joy McCorvey was the biggest recipient to that defense, as she collected 10 of her game high 23 points in the opening frame. The 6-0 junior center also chipped in a couple of steals along the way.
Friday's game marked the second time this season McCorvey outscored an opposing team by herself. She also did it against W.S. Neal at the Escambia County Tournament.
The Lady Tigers strung together an 18-0 run after Davis' initial three-pointer to take a 20-3 lead before Davis' second trey at the horn snapped the string.
McCorvey, Jasmine Sanford and Keonshaye Lane divied the production on more even terms in the second frame, a quarter where T.R. Miller (8-0) outscored Monroe County 24-0. Sanford had four field goals, all from in close, while Lane and McCorvey both had seven points.
Sanford's layup with three minutes left in the third quarter capped off the 32-0 run and extended the visiting Lady Tigers' lead to 52-6. Davis, who scored 10 of Monroe County's 14 points finally ended the long dry spell with a bucket from inside the lane.
The Lady Tigers, who played at Northview (Fla.) Saturday, finally make their home debut Monday against Andalusia. T.R. Miller is also home against Pensacola Tuesday. Approximate game time is 5 p.m.
