Lady Tigers continue recent win streak Tuesday with win over Bayside

The T.R. Miller Lady Tiger basketball team edged out the Bayside Academy Lady Admirals Tuesday at home, 32-31, to increase their winning streak to five straight games.
With the win, the Lady Tigers improved their record to 13-7 overall and to 6-1 in area play.
If Clarke County loses to Bayside Academy Friday, the Lady Tigers of T.R. Miller will be the area champion and host the area tournament. If Clarke County wins against Bayside, T.R. Miller must win Saturday at Bayside in order to share the area title which will lead to a coin flip to host the area championship.
In varsity action Tuesday, the T.R. Miller Tigers dropped a 40-32 loss to fall to 7-10 overall and to 2-5 in area play.
The loss wrapped up fourth place in the area for the Tigers who will play the No. 5 seed Excel Panthers to open the area tournament. The location of the boys area tournament will be known at a later date.
There was no B-team game Tuesday.
T.R. Miller and Bayside Academy will meet again Saturday in Daphne at 4:30 p.m. in the final area game of the season for T.R. Miller.
Monday, the Tiger teams will travel to Andalusia before ending their regular season with a home game against Hillcrest Friday at 4:30 p.m.
TRM Lady Tigers 32, Bayside Academy 31
Leading by seven points at the half, 21-17, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers were outscored 17-11 in the second half but held on for the one-point win over Bayside, 32-31.
T.R. Miller fell behind in the first quarter 10-6 before rallying in the second quarter with a 15-4 run to hold the seven-point lead at the break.
Bayside Academy would come out of the locker rooms and outscore the Lady Tigers 10-6 in the third quarter to cut the lead to 27-24 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Bayside outscored T.R. Miller 7-5 as T.R. Miller hung on for the win.
Leah Brundidge and LaTeysia Montgomery led T.R. Miller with 14 points each while Nastarcia Drakeford and Taylor Guthrie had two points each.
Bayside Academy 40, TRM varsity Tigers 32
Bayside Academy shutout the Tigers in the first quarter and withheld a late T.R. Miller rally Tuesday to get the win by eight points, 40-32.
Following a 10-0 lead for the Admirals after one quarter of play, Bayside edged out the Tigers of Brewton 10-8 in the second quarter to hold a 20-8 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, Bayside once again edged out the Tigers by one point, 9-8, to increase their lead to 29-16 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, the Tigers came out and outscored Bayside 16-11 but could not overcome the scoreless first quarter as they fell by eight points.
Jaquan Dewberry led the Tigers with nine points in the loss while Darrion Salter and Mark Bryant both finished with six points.
Kameron Winn and Caleb Dickey had four points each and Marc Edge finished with three points in the loss for the Tigers.
