JDCC basketball falls at Shelton

In their final regular season game, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team lost at Shelton State 77-72. With the loss, JDCC fell to 18-9 and saw their seven-game winning streak come to an end.
JDCC trailed Shelton 32-30 after the first half and was outscored by three in the second half, 45-42, to suffer the five-point loss.
“We had the ball down one with a minute to go and couldn’t get it done,” JDCC head coach Allen Gainer said.
Turmonte Ragland led the Warhawks with 21 points and Brandon Scott followed with 18. R.J. Bower finished with 15 and D.J. Jackson chipped in seven. Greg Crum had six points and Larel Jackson had five in the loss. Sherman Presswood added two for JDCC.
Larel Jackson, Ragland, Scott and Bowers all led with two steals each and Larel Jackson, Ragland and Derrell Washington all had one block each.
Scott led with five assists and Ragland led with seven rebounds.
JDCC will have a first-round bye at the regional tournament in Tuscaloosa and will play the winner of Southern Union and Chattahoochee Valley from Wednesday on Thursday.
