WSN JV baseball Eagles go 2-1 in Monroe County tourney

The W.S. Neal JV baseball team competed in the Monroe County JV tournament Saturday in Monroeville and posted a 2-1 record. W.S. Neal’s overall record is now 4-5-1.
In the tournament Saturday, W.S. Neal started out with a 12-0 win over J.U. Blacksher and followed that with a 10-0 win over the host Monroe County Tigers.
In their third and final game, the Eagles of East Brewton lost a 7-2 decision to Excel.
Against J.U. Blacksher, Miles Powell got the start on the mound and the win as he went three innings and allowed one hit and struck out five. Rob Jones went the final two innings and allowed one hit while striking out two.
At the plate, Taylor Elliott was 1-for-2 with one RBI and Tyler Joyner was 1-for-3 with three RBIs. Powell was 2-for-3 with one RBI and Jerad Salter was 1-for-2 with one RBI and two runs scored. Mike Williams had a two-RBI triple in the second inning for the Eagles and Alex O’Keane was 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Colten Morris went 1-for-1 with two RBIs.
Against Monroe County, Jones started on the mound and earned the win going two innings and allowing two hits and struck out four. Justin Sessions went two innings and allowed two hits and struck out two.
Elliot and Powell had one hit each with Powell having two RBIs. Joyner was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Williams had one hit and one RBI. Patrick Glass was 1-for-2 with one RBI.
In the finale against Excel, Powell was 1-for-2 with one run scored and William had one RBI.
Joyner went five innings on the mound and allowed five hits and struck out five.
