Laura Etta Bettis, a resident of the Conecuh County area, died July 13, 2005, in Brewton. She was born Dec. 26, 1909 to Banner L. and Mary E. Byrd-Nicholson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cleveland Bettis and 11 siblings. She was a member of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church of Repton.
She is survived by a son, the Rev. Ezra (Olivia) Nicholson of Brewton; two step-daughters, Lucy Berry and Cleo Devine; a sister, Mrs. Cleo Simpson of Repton; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and other friends and relatives
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 18, at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church of Repton with the Rev. Danny Benjamin officiating. Burial was in Bethesda Church Cemetery with Presley Fluker Funeral Home directing.
