Moments after being administered the oath of office Monday night, the first official action of the new East Brewton mayor and city council was the dismissal of three policemen, including the police chief.
Both Brewton and East Brewton city councils are without mayor pro tems this week after neither municipality could agree on a chairman to preside in the absence of the mayor.
The T.R. Miller High School band will present its football half-time show to a panel of nine expert band judges Oct. 25 at the Southeastern States Marching Band festival in Troy.
Andrea Alford, Brewton's first girl football player, is playing for the second year and is a member of the Brewton Mites.
