It’s movie night in Brewton

The third movie provided by the City of Brewton will be held Tuesday, June 12, at 6:30 p.m. at the Brewton Civic Center behind city hall. Although the name of the movie cannot be released officials say the presentation is about a feline that dresses in boots. The family-friendly movie is rated PG and is 90 minutes long.
Gary Hill, director of recreation for the City of Brewton, said the turnout was not as good as expected for the first movie last week.
“There were only 11 people who came out the first week, but the attendance last week was a little higher with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” Hill said. “This week we have another movie that will appeal to the young. We need to see a larger crowd come out or we may not be able to continue with the movies. Considering the movie is free and is being shown in an air-conditioned building, with bathrooms, I don’t see why more people don’t attend. The city is trying to give something back to the community and people should take advantage of this opportunity.”
Movies are being shown every Tuesday through August 7, and they are all up-to-date movies.
Officials say those who attend the showings are invited to bring snacks and drinks for the event. For a complete listing of the movies, see the calendar of events on Page 3 of The Brewton Standard.
