Brewton 10U all-stars currently 2-0 in Evergreen tourney

The Brewton 10U all-stars jumped out to a big lead and then had to rally for a 10-9 win over Atmore in their first game of the district tournament in Evergreen Saturday.
Brewton scored seven runs in the bottom of first inning to take an early 7-0 lead over Atmore.
Atmore would get on the board with one run in the top of the second inning to cut the lead to 7-1, but Brewton’s Kyle Blevins scored in the bottom of the fourth to give Brewton an 8-1 lead.
Atmore came roaring back in the fifth inning as they scored five runs to cut the lead to 8-6. Atmore would continue their rally in the sixth inning as they scored three runs to take a 9-8 lead heading into the final inning of play.
With runners on second and third with two outs for Brewton, Stone Martin got the game-winning hit to score Blevins and Miller Hart for the one-run win.
At the plate for Brewton, Blevins was 3-for-3 and scored three runs while Blake Jernigan was 1-for-3 and scored one run. Martin was 1-for-3 and scored one run and Brandon Smith was 1-for-2 and scored one run. Hart added two runs and Nolan Atkinson and Landon Sims each scored one run.
On the mound, Sims went three innings and allowed no hits, one run, walked three, struck out and hit one. Lisenby went two innings and allowed two hits, five runs, walked three and struck out four. Logan Bush went one inning and allowed four hits, three runs, walked and hit one.
For Atmore, Jayce Sell had two hits and scored two runs while Sam Smith had one hit and scored one run.
Jeffery Wilson added two hits and scored two runs while Jabon Davis added one hit and one run.
Jacob Harrison had two hits and scored two runs while Chase Bell added one hit and one run. Kameron Bowen scored one run in the loss.
Sunday: Brewton 19, Covington County 14
In their second game of the tournament Sunday, Brewton remained in the winner’s bracket with a 19-14 win over Covington County.
Brewton scored 19 runs on nine hits and benefited from 19 walks in the win.
Brewton started the game off by sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring seven runs on three hits.
Brewton would lead 7-3 after the first inning and 10-4 after two innings. Covington County cut the lead to 11-7 in the fourth inning before Brewton scored three runs in the fifth and five in the sixth to take a 19-7 lead. Covington County scored seven in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 19-14, but that would be as close as they would get as Brewton earned the win by five.
Blevins was 2-for-3 with singles and scored two runs while Miller was 1-for-1 with a single and scored four runs.
Blake Jernigan went 2-for-3 with singles and scored three runs and Martin was 1-for-3 with a single and scored three runs. Brandon Smith was 2-for-4 with singles and scored one run. Lisenby was 1-for-3 with a single and scored one run. Nolan Atkinson and Jaxson Flores scored two runs each while Logan Bush scored one run.
Jernigan earned the win on the mound going four innings allowed eight hits, seven runs, walked one and struck out three.
Sims went two innings allowed four hits, seven runs, walked none and struck out two.
Brewton was set to be back in action Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Opp.
