T.R. Miller Lady Tigers senior center Joy McCorvey walked off the floor at Flomaton High School Saturday with her second straight Escambia County Tournament Most Valuable Player Award.
The 6-0 McCorvey led the champion Lady Tigers in scoring for the tournament with 58 points with games of 24 against Flomaton, 19 against W.S. Neal and 15 in Saturday's championship game win over Escambia County.
McCorvey was joined on the All-Tournament team by teammates Jasmine Sanford and Keya Peterson. Sanford was right behind McCorvey for tournament high scoring honors with 55 points, 22 of which came in the championship game. Peterson had a team best four three-pointers.
The rest of the girls all-tournament team consisted of Escambia County's Kristen Culliver, Jasmine Sanders and Ashanti Jones, Flomaton's Tiffany Cayson and Lillian Williams and W.S. Neal's Shekinah Adams.
Escambia County's Chris Andrews led the boys all-tournament team selections as the event's most valuable player. The Blue Devils were also represented by Quartez James and Calvin Hartley.
The rest of the all-tournament team consisted of T.R. Miller's Brandon Andrews Jordan Knight and Laine Lucas, Flomaton's Clay Simpson and Scott Walton and W.S. Neal's Cecil Thomas.
The Lady Tigers are now 15-0 in the tournament since it was restarted in 2001. Also during that time frame Escambia County is 8-7, Flomaton 7-8 and W.S. Neal 0-15.
On the boys side, Escambia County owns the best mark over the five-year period at 13-2, while T.R. Miller is next at 10-5. Flomaton has gone 7-8 and W.S. Neal is winless at 0-15.
The Escambia County Tournament will rotate to T.R. Miller next season.
