T.R. Miller Tigers defensive back Mikel Riggs and W.S. Neal Blue Eagles offensive lineman Jared Cooper have landed spots on this season's Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 3A All-State First Team.
The All-State First Team for offense consisted of quarterback Zach Smith of Susan Moore, running backs Anthony Mostella of Oneonta, James Jackson of Pike County and Shawn Green of Weaver, wide receivers Tanrrance Landrum of Weaver and Damion Chambers of Cherokee County, tight end Matt Stidham of Susan Moore, linemen Jared Cooper of W.S. Neal, Joe Willie Whited of Oneonta, Brad Weaver of Cherokee County, Julius Fenn of Pike County and Brandon Gardner of Aliceville.
The All-State First Team for defense consisted of defensive backs Mikel Riggs of T.R. Miller, Lance Clark of Madison Academy, Cortez Pitts of Midfield and Kevin Marshall of Pike County, linebackers Bernard Mitchell of Slocomb, Tyler Estes of Winfield, Jarmon Barrow of Pike County, and Antoine Parker of Midfield, and linemen Martez Boykin of Pike County, Jamare Mathis of Litchfield, Courtney Ray of Lafayette and Jemarcus Ricks of Colbert County.
Montgomery Academy kicker Harris Brown and Sardis punter Blaine Carlisle were also All-State selections.
T.R. Miller quarter Jordan
Cauley and linebacker Wade McCall both received Honorable Mention.

The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers basketball team has drawn a first-round matchup against UMS-Wright in next week's Spring Hill College Tournament at Mobile. That game, which will be played December 27 at 11 a.m., is one of eight first-round games that will be played that day
UMS-Wright currently sports a 9-2 record and is ranked sixth in Class 4A. Despite a 9-1 record and an eight-game winning streak, T.R. Miller is unranked in Class 3A.
Other first-round matchups on opening day include St. Paul's vs. Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa at 9:30 a.m., Davidson vs. Selma at 12:30 p.m., Blount vs. Midfield at 2 p.m., LeFlore vs. Sidney-Lanier at 3:30 p.m., Murphy vs. Geneva at 5 p.m., Baker vs. Vigor at 6:30 p.m., and McGill-Toolen vs. Huffman at 8 p.m.
If T.R. Miller beats UMS-Wright in the opening round, it will play the McGill-Toolen/Huffman winner December 28 at 8 p.m. If the Lady Tigers lose to UMS-Wright, they will play the McGill-Toolen/Huffman loser December 28 at 2 p.m.
The tournament runs through December 30.
