Crenshaw meets Bonner, senators

Jayme Crenshaw, a senior at Monroe Academy, took part in the Feb. 11-18 Presidential Classroom Media and Democracy Program in Washington, D.C.
She joined more than 160 high school juniors and seniors from 34 states, Puerto Rico, France and Germany who explored the federal government at work, and learned how the media interacts and plays a part in democracy and the democratic process.
Crenshaw spent a week participating in a hands-on media simulation project with her peers.
In addition to observing the American political process on Capitol Hill, visiting various national media outlets, debating key current issues and hearing from numerous media professionals.
Crenshaw was also elected as an anchor for their ABC News report on the president's State of the Union Address.
Other activities for the week included touring of historical sites around Washington, D.C. and a performance by the political satire troupe, Capitol Steps.
While in Washington, D.C., Crenshaw met with Congressman Jo Bonner and senators Jeff Sessions and Richard Shelby.
She is the daughter of Jimmy and Pam Crenshaw of Excel, and granddaughter of Leonard and Lucille Peevy, Tom and Faye Rodgers and Buddy and Lois Crenshaw, all of Brewton.
